Lambic Beer Fruit Roll-ups

A few years ago we were surprised to find that our dehydrator came with a plastic sheet for making fruit roll-ups.  As a kid one of the things I fondly remember is peeling away the plastic wrapping of fruit roll-ups that came in a box.  This memory, of course, got my mind grinding on how we could use this device to create our own.  Eventually, we started thinking of ways to insert beer into roll-up recipes and since then we have come up with a few different styles of beer roll-ups.  This recipe is very easy to make, but is not for kids.

Tools Required:
Dehydrator with a Fruit Roll Sheet

Ingredients:
Lambic Beer (We used Lindermans Pomie "Apple" Lambic) - 1/2 cup
Home-made or Jar Apple Sauce - 4 cups

Directions:
Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until everything is pureed.  Pour the mixture into a fruit roll-up dehydrator sheet.  Make sure mixture is evenly spread throughout the sheet.  Dry at 135 degrees F for 4 to 8 hours or until pliable.  Once ready remove from sheet while still warm and let cool on parchment paper.  Roll up while still on the parchment paper and store in a large zip lock bag in the refrigerator.

Notes:
We used apple sauce as a base for this recipe because we found that it dehydrated easily and gave us the desired texture.  The Lambic Beer on the other hand can be traded out for any number of lambic flavors.  We also found that Framboise (Raspberry), Kriek (Cherry), or Peche (Peach) Lambic Beers works as a great combination with the apple sauce.  If you want to experiment further we would first suggest finding a lambic beer that you enjoy and see what combinations you can come up with.
